Marble and travertine tabletops are highly durable and need minimal care to maintain their beauty. Every marble or travertine top is unique – no table will have the same shades or patterns. Concrete is a stunning juxtaposition to timber and metals. Although man-made, it is normal to see variation in colour and texture. Some of our pieces will feature special substrates to make the pieces lighter and easier to move or resistant to cracking.
DO
- Wipe any spills immediately with a clean, soft cloth to avoid staining. Marble and travertine products are treated with a clear lacquer to protect the marble against spills, however the longer a spill remains, the more chance it has to become a permanent stain.
- Use coasters, placemats and table runners to reduce the chances of marking and damaging the marble or travertine. However, these surfaces can be very delicate and with everyday use you can expect some visual signs of wear on the surface of the product.
- Dust the surface weekly using a soft cloth. Avoid cleaning products unless the label specifies it is safe for natural stone, concrete, marble or travertine.
- Apply felt pads to the bottom of vases or similar tabletop items to avoid scratches.
- Make sure you have enough friends, family or flat mates to assist you when lifting and moving heavy furniture.
- Periodically check and re-tighten any fasteners and avoid direct sunlight.
DO NOT
- Use acidic, lemon or vinegar-based cleaners. These can burn the sealant, removing the protective layer and damaging the surface.
- Drag your table as it will stress the frame. Carefully lift it from both ends when moving.
- Knock against your table, as this may chip or scratch the marble, travertine or concrete.
We recommend using Freedom's Stone Care Seal & Protect. This care product can be self-applied and forms an invisible barrier on the surface. Regular application every few months or so will prevent permanent staining from foods and common liquids and make it easier to clean.
